How can you tell it is time for root canal treatment?
My tooth hurts at night, throbs and keeps me awake.
It hurts when I bite, or the pain after something cold takes a long time to go away.
I have swelling or something like a spot on the gum next to the tooth.
The tooth has already had root canal treatment, but it is playing up again.
I have been told the tooth needs to come out, but I want to save it.
My tooth has darkened and I don't know if it is still alive.
If even one of these applies to you, do not wait for the pain to go away by itself. At your visit we will check the condition of the tooth and tell you whether it can be saved.
How can we help?
Five worries that patients most often bring with them to root canal treatment, and what we do about each of them.
"Root canal treatment is the worst pain I know."
If you are afraid of pain: we carry out treatment under anaesthesia, and the dentist checks that it is working before opening the pulp chamber. With acute inflammation, we use a different injection technique.
anaesthesia checked before the procedure
“I do not have time for lots of visits.”
If time matters to you: without acute inflammation, first-time treatment is usually completed in one longer visit. More appointments are needed for teeth with discharge and for retreatment.
usually 1 visit
"I'm afraid it will end with the tooth being taken out anyway."
If you want to save your tooth: the microscope lets us find and clean every canal, including extra and unusual ones, so we save teeth that, without magnification, were qualified for extraction.
ZEISS microscope for every treatment
"This tooth was badly treated in the past."
If treatment needs to be redone: we carry out retreatment under a microscope, including removing broken instruments from the canal. Where there are periapical lesions, an apicoectomy (root-end resection) is possible.
from 2000 PLN
"Wouldn't it be better to have an implant straight away?"
If you are considering an implant: treating a multi-canal tooth with a restoration on a post costs 3000 PLN, while extraction, an implant and a crown together come to more than 8500 PLN. We suggest an implant when the tooth cannot be saved.
3000 PLN instead of more than 8500 PLN

What does root canal treatment involve?
Every tooth has a chamber inside containing the pulp, and canals in the root. When decay or injury leads to infection of the pulp, the bacteria must be removed from the entire canal system. We clean and disinfect it under a microscope, then seal the canals tightly and restore the tooth.
-
Enamel and dentine the hard layers of the tooth, where decay begins
-
Pulp chamber living tissue with the nerve and blood vessels
-
Root canals narrow channels in the root, which we clean and seal tightly
Root canal treatment or extraction and an implant - how much does it cost?
Your own root maintains the bone, which starts to shrink once a tooth is extracted. We suggest an implant when the tooth cannot be saved or the prognosis is very uncertain.

Root canal treatment at Flow Dental Studio is provided by Dr Adrian Kiepuszewski's team. A microscope and tooth isolation are standard today, but the outcome of treatment depends on the dentist's experience, practice and knowledge - which is why we assess every case individually before suggesting treatment or another solution.

Very professional and friendly. A visit to the dentist can be a pleasant experience after all. The aligners are comfortable and hygienic, and week by week I can see my teeth straightening. I recommend it.
Translated from PolishI had the pleasure of being treated by Dr Kiepuszewski at Flow Dental Studio, and I can honestly say he is an exceptional dentist. Wisdom tooth extraction, which so many patients dread, took place in a comfortable atmosphere. Dr Adrian is not only extremely competent but also has a wonderful approach to patients, full of understanding and care. I also decided on aligner treatment. The doctor's precise work and professionalism mean the visits run smoothly and in a pleasant atmosphere. My smile looks better and better, and I know it was the best decision. I recommend him to anyone who dreams of straight teeth without pain or discomfort! The Flow Dental Studio practice itself also deserves a special mention. Modern equipment, a beautiful interior, a pleasant atmosphere and kind, courteous staff make patients feel looked after, and the visit becomes a much more pleasant experience. It is a place that cares not only about healthy teeth but also about the patient's wellbeing.
Translated from PolishFlow Dental Studio is a place where professionalism goes hand in hand with empathy and care for the patient. I had professional teeth cleaning and fillings there, and I am very impressed by the precision and gentleness of the treatment. Dr Julia and Daria explain everything thoroughly, and the atmosphere at the practice is calm and friendly. It is definitely a practice you can trust completely, which is why I will be back whenever the opportunity arises :)
Translated from PolishBeautiful practice, professional staff, and the doctor is the GOAT. I didn't even notice when it was over – the nasty wisdom tooth is gone. Highly recommended.
Translated from PolishIt is rare to find places where professionalism goes hand in hand with genuine empathy — but Flow Dental Studio is exactly that kind of place. I had the pleasure (yes, it really can be called that!) of being in Dr Adrian's care for a wisdom tooth extraction I had been dreading for a long time because of severe hypersensitivity. What sets Dr Adrian apart is not only his exceptional skill and precision, but above all his extraordinary respect for the patient's boundaries and feelings. Every gesture and every word – full of calm, understanding and attentiveness – made me feel cared for at every stage of the procedure. A procedure that had filled me with fear turned out to be an almost... soothing experience. No pain, no tension, and great attention to my mental and physical comfort. This is not just dentistry at the highest level — it is the art of creating a safe space in a place usually associated with stress. From the bottom of my heart, thank you to Dr Adrian and the whole Flow Dental Studio team for making it possible to come to you anxious — and leave grateful and smiling.
Translated from PolishI recommend Dr Adrian. A very professional approach to patients.

Call reception and describe what is happening with your tooth - we will arrange an appointment.
Toothache?
When is root canal treatment necessary?
It is indicated for irreversible inflammation of the pulp or pulp necrosis. The pulp is living tissue inside the tooth, and damage to it usually causes severe pain. However, the problem can also be symptom-free and turn up by chance on an X-ray during a check-up. Ignoring even mild symptoms allows the infection to spread to the tissues around the root, so a prompt diagnosis decides whether the tooth can still be saved.
How many visits does root canal treatment take?
Without acute inflammation, first-time treatment is usually completed in one longer visit. More appointments are needed for teeth with discharge, where a dressing with an antiseptic medicine is placed, and for retreatment.
Does anaesthesia work when the pain is severe?
Yes, although with acute inflammation achieving full anaesthesia can be more difficult and requires a different injection technique. The dentist checks that it is working before opening the pulp chamber.
Why is restoring the tooth after treatment so important?
After root canal treatment a tooth becomes more brittle and prone to fracture. A well-sealed restoration protects it from bacteria getting back in and from cracking when you bite. For front teeth a direct restoration is often enough, while molars and premolars need stronger protection. The lack of a well-sealed, durable restoration is the most common reason for failure after properly performed root canal treatment.
Does a tooth darken after root canal treatment?
It can, especially front teeth and years after the procedure. The colour is then corrected with a prosthetic restoration, such as a veneer or a crown.
How long will a tooth last after treatment?
With well-performed treatment and a well-sealed restoration, the tooth will last for many years. Three things decide this: the precision of the procedure, the quality of the restoration and your hygiene.
What if the treatment fails?
In that case, retreatment is an option, and where there are periapical lesions, an apicoectomy (root-end resection). Extracting the tooth is the last resort, after which the gap is planned for restoration.
Microscope-assisted endodontics in Gdynia - a second chance for your tooth
Endodontic treatment is a second chance for non-vital teeth or teeth with advanced inflammation that have previously had unsuccessful root canal treatment. Our principle is to save your own tooth before we turn to an implant.
An infected pulp does not heal on its own. Once the inflammation becomes irreversible, there are two options left: root canal treatment or extraction.
What does the success of root canal treatment depend on?
Endodontic treatment is a procedure that eliminates bacteria from the tooth's root canal system. Every tooth has a nerve chamber (in the crown) and a system of canals in the root that supply it with blood and nerves. Tooth decay allows bacteria to invade these spaces and the nerves and blood vessels break down. The essence of treatment is to clean and disinfect this system thoroughly and seal the canals tightly, which prevents further disease.
A microscope is essential during the procedure – it lets us see more, so we do not miss any anomaly. A rubber dam, used to isolate the treatment field, is also important. However, no piece of equipment can replace the experience and skill of the dentist performing the procedure.
Treatment under a microscope is standard today, as is isolating the tooth in the treatment field. It is the dentist's experience, practice and knowledge that make the real difference to the final result.
What else is worth knowing about root canal treatment?
What is endodontics and how does it save teeth from extraction?
Endodontics, commonly known as root canal treatment, is the field of dentistry concerned with saving teeth from extraction. The procedure involves removing infected or dead pulp, cleaning and disinfecting the root canal system and sealing it tightly. The aim is to eliminate the source of infection and keep the natural tooth in the mouth.
The alternative to root canal treatment is usually only extraction. Conservative dentistry aims to preserve your own teeth, because your own root maintains the bone and does not force you to fill a gap later on.
Two different things are often confused here. Root canal treatment ends with the root being tightly sealed, while restoring the crown of the tooth is a separate stage and a separate item in the cost estimate.
What is microscope-assisted endodontics and what difference does it make?
Microscope-assisted endodontics means working under the magnification of a dental operating microscope. Magnifying the treatment field dozens of times reveals anatomical details invisible to the naked eye, and these determine whether the entire root canal system can be cleaned.
We work with a ZEISS Extaro 300 microscope with imaging channels and a filter that highlights decay and old, leaking fillings. Magnification translates into three specific things:
- locating all the root canals, including narrow ones with an unusual course,
- thoroughly cleaning infected tissue from the whole, often branching, canal system,
- being able to carry out difficult procedures such as removing broken instruments or sealing perforations.
A missed canal remains a breeding ground for bacteria, so finding it decides the outcome of the entire treatment. That is why, for us, the microscope is not an extra reserved for difficult cases but the standard for every endodontic procedure.
What does root canal treatment under a microscope in Gdynia give you?
Working under magnification reduces the risk of complications and the need to repeat the procedure in future. For you as a patient, this means:
- precision that makes it possible to find and treat every canal, including extra and unusual ones,
- the chance to save teeth in cases that, without magnification, were qualified for extraction,
- shorter working time thanks to good visibility, because the dentist does not have to search blindly for the canal openings,
- checks on the seal of the filling and the condition of the chamber walls at every stage of the procedure.
Root canal treatment or an implant?
Our priority is to save the natural tooth, as long as its condition and prognosis allow. Your own root maintains the bone in a place where bone loss begins after extraction, and in the shorter term it is also the cheaper solution.
The figures are clear. Treating a multi-canal tooth with a restoration on a fibreglass post costs 3000 PLN. A simple extraction at 650 PLN, implant placement from 3400 PLN and a crown on the implant at 4500 PLN add up to more than 8500 PLN.
An implant remains the right solution when the tooth cannot be saved or the prognosis is very uncertain. The dentist makes the decision together with you, after diagnostics and after explaining the pros and cons of both options.
