Discussing a smile design with the dentist at Flow Dental Studio
  • Design before treatment you approve it before we begin
  • TRIOS 5 3D scan no impression material
  • Smile mock-up no tooth reduction
  • No commitment you decide once the design is approved
Does this sound like you?

How can you tell that digital smile design is right for you?

I am thinking about veneers or crowns, but I am afraid of deciding blindly.

I want to see my new smile before anyone touches my teeth.

I do not know whether bonding, veneers or crowns would be better.

I want a smile that suits my face, not one from a catalogue.

I am afraid of having healthy teeth reduced just for a trial.

If you recognise yourself in any of these, a digital design lets you decide based on what you see. Trying in a mock-up does not involve any tooth reduction, and treatment begins only once you have approved the design.

The problem and the solution

How can we help?

The concerns that most often hold people back, and how we address them.

“I am worried I will not like the design.”

If you are unsure about the result: we change the design according to your comments, and the try-in can be repeated. The design phase does not commit you to any further treatment.

“I do not want my teeth reduced just for a trial.”

If you want to protect your enamel: we place the mock-up over your natural teeth with no reduction and no etching. After the visit we remove it completely, and your teeth return to the state they were in before the try-in.

“I am not sure the result will be the same as the try-in.”

If predictability matters to you: the mock-up shows the shape, position and proportions of your future teeth. The veneers or crowns reproduce the approved design, and their material gives your smile its final colour and translucency.

“I do not have time for lots of visits.”

If time matters to you: the process is usually completed in two visits a few working days apart. The design itself is created between visits, without you needing to be there.

Very professional and friendly. A visit to the dentist can be a pleasant experience after all. The aligners are comfortable and hygienic, and week by week I can see my teeth straightening. I recommend it.

I had the pleasure of being treated by Dr Kiepuszewski at Flow Dental Studio, and I can honestly say he is an exceptional dentist. Wisdom tooth extraction, which so many patients dread, took place in a comfortable atmosphere. Dr Adrian is not only extremely competent but also has a wonderful approach to patients, full of understanding and care. I also decided on aligner treatment. The doctor's precise work and professionalism mean the visits run smoothly and in a pleasant atmosphere. My smile looks better and better, and I know it was the best decision. I recommend him to anyone who dreams of straight teeth without pain or discomfort! The Flow Dental Studio practice itself also deserves a special mention. Modern equipment, a beautiful interior, a pleasant atmosphere and kind, courteous staff make patients feel looked after, and the visit becomes a much more pleasant experience. It is a place that cares not only about healthy teeth but also about the patient's wellbeing.

It is rare to find places where professionalism goes hand in hand with genuine empathy — but Flow Dental Studio is exactly that kind of place. I had the pleasure (yes, it really can be called that!) of being in Dr Adrian's care for a wisdom tooth extraction I had been dreading for a long time because of severe hypersensitivity. What sets Dr Adrian apart is not only his exceptional skill and precision, but above all his extraordinary respect for the patient's boundaries and feelings. Every gesture and every word – full of calm, understanding and attentiveness – made me feel cared for at every stage of the procedure. A procedure that had filled me with fear turned out to be an almost... soothing experience. No pain, no tension, and great attention to my mental and physical comfort. This is not just dentistry at the highest level — it is the art of creating a safe space in a place usually associated with stress. From the bottom of my heart, thank you to Dr Adrian and the whole Flow Dental Studio team for making it possible to come to you anxious — and leave grateful and smiling.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions about digital smile design

Can’t see your question here? Call us or leave your number and we will call you back. +48 786 420 004 Leave your number
How long does digital smile design take?
The whole process usually takes 2 visits a few working days apart: a consultation with diagnostics and a visit to try in the mock-up. The digital design itself is created between visits, without you needing to be there. The actual aesthetic treatment is planned only once the design has been approved.
Does a mock-up damage tooth enamel?
No. The mock-up is placed over your natural teeth without any reduction or enamel etching, and it is removed completely after the visit. Your teeth return to their original state, with no change to their structure. The try-in itself does not require anaesthesia.
What if I do not like the smile design?
We modify the design according to your comments, and the try-in can be repeated. Treatment begins only once you have approved the final design, so the design phase itself does not commit you to any further procedures.
Will the result after treatment be the same as the mock-up?
The mock-up shows the shape, position and proportions of your future teeth. When treatment is complete, the ceramic veneers or crowns reproduce the approved design, and the colour and translucency of the final material give your smile its final appearance.
How much does a 3D dental scan cost?
A 3D scan with the TRIOS 5 scanner is part of the digital smile design package, and its cost is included in the price of this stage, which is set after the consultation. The scan replaces traditional impression materials and is used to prepare the digital design of your new smile.
Can bonding be part of a planned makeover?
Yes. Depending on the case, the design can be carried out with veneers, crowns or bonding, and bonding can be a less expensive alternative to ceramics. The choice of method depends on the treatment plan presented after the digital design has been approved.

Digital smile design - Flow Dental Studio in Gdynia
No blind decisions

What do patients fear most before a smile makeover?

The most common fear is that veneers or crowns will not look the way the patient imagines, and these procedures cannot be undone. Digital design reverses the order: first you see and approve the digital design, and only then does treatment begin. You decide on irreversible procedures once you already know their planned result.

Definition

What is digital smile design and how does it work?

Digital smile design is a procedure in aesthetic dentistry in which a digital design of a new smile is created from photographs of the face, a video recording and a 3D scan. You view it on a computer screen and try it in before treatment begins. The concept of digital smile design was developed by the Brazilian dentist Dr Christian Coachman.

Computer-aided smile design is based on an examination of the patient's face, i.e. an analysis of proportions, facial expressions and lip movement. The dentist assesses three levels: macro-aesthetics (the face), mini-aesthetics (the smile) and micro-aesthetics (the individual tooth), so that the precise smile design suits the patient's facial features, personality and character. Every patient's design is different. As a modern approach, digital smile design is becoming increasingly popular, because it provides a visualisation of the final result before treatment begins.

The service includes a consultation and aesthetic interview, full digital diagnostics (facial photographs, intraoral photographs, a video recording and a scan of the mouth), a digital smile design and a physical try-in of that design. The 3D scan replaces traditional impression materials, and computer-aided design makes it possible to refine the appearance of the smile before anything permanent is made.

Who digital smile design is for
Who it is for

Who is digital smile design for?

Digital smile design is for people who are planning veneers, crowns or a larger restoration and want to see the result before committing to irreversible procedures. This method is also worth considering for missing teeth, discolouration and asymmetry, when treatment needs precise planning.

It is a solution for patients who value control and want a real say in their own treatment, who dream of a beautiful smile but are worried about an unpredictable result. In some cases, the design is preceded by preparatory treatment, such as orthodontic or root canal treatment. The dentist establishes your needs and expectations at the first visit.

Indications

Which aesthetic problems can digital design help plan?

Digital design makes it possible to plan precisely how to correct imperfections that affect the appearance of your smile. The dentist and the patient agree on a solution together before treatment begins.

Design most often covers:

  • uneven tooth shape or size,
  • gaps between the teeth, for example a diastema,
  • discolouration, stains and old, leaking fillings, when the design shows how to remove discolouration through teeth whitening or veneers,
  • an asymmetrical smile in relation to the axis of the face, when it is possible to plan how to correct the smile line,
  • tooth wear caused by age or bruxism,
  • a gummy smile, i.e. excessive gum display.
Design of a new smile - 3D model and mock-up
See the result

How will you see the design of your new smile before treatment begins?

You will see the design of your new smile in two ways: first as a digital 3D model on a computer screen, and then as a physical try-in, i.e. a mock-up placed over your teeth. This means you know exactly what your smile will look like and can judge the final result before deciding on treatment. Computer-aided smile design provides precise visualisations where previously everything was left to the dentist's imagination.

Advantages

What are the advantages of digital planning for aesthetic treatment?

Digital planning gives you control over the process and better communication with the dentist. The advantages of this method include your involvement in the design, the ability to make changes, a visualisation of the final result and a cost estimate known before any irreversible procedures begin.

You and the dentist go through the digital design and its results together, which greatly reduces your uncertainty about how your smile will change. Many patients associate well-organised, planned-in-advance treatment with greater peace of mind and confidence, because the smile of their dreams stops being an abstraction and becomes a design to approve.

Step by step

How does digital smile design work at Flow Dental Studio in Gdynia?

Digital smile design at Flow Dental Studio involves 4 stages: from a consultation visit and diagnostics, through the digital design, to the mock-up try-in and approval of the treatment plan. You take part in the first and last stages, and the design itself is created between visits.

Stages of digital smile design at Flow Dental Studio

Step 1: Consultation visit, photo session and 3D scan

The first visit is an aesthetic interview and data collection. The dentist learns about your expectations, examines your teeth, and takes photographs of your face and intraoral photographs, a video of your smile in motion and a 3D scan of your mouth with the TRIOS 5 scanner. The scan is quick and comfortable, with no traditional impression materials.

Step 2: Digital smile design (digital wax-up)

The second stage takes place without you needing to be there. Based on the photographs, video and scan, the dentist and a technician in the dental laboratory design your new smile in Exocad software. The result is a digital 3D model of the teeth, known as a digital wax-up, matched to your facial features and the proportions of your smile.

Step 3: Trying in your new smile, i.e. the mock-up

During the second visit, we place a mock-up over your teeth without reducing them. It is a temporary composite material that reproduces the digital design. In a single visit you see and assess your new smile in the mirror and in photographs, and you can give us your comments. The mock-up is removed completely after the visit.

Step 4: Approval of the treatment plan and cost estimate

The fourth stage follows once you approve the mock-up. The dentist presents a detailed treatment plan, for example porcelain veneers or all-ceramic crowns, together with a schedule and cost estimate. The actual treatment begins only after you have given informed consent to the whole plan.

A modern approach

How does computer-aided smile design differ from traditional methods?

Computer-aided smile design differs from traditional methods in two ways: instead of plaster-based impressions we take a quick 3D scan, and instead of relying on the dentist's imagination and plaster models, you can physically try on the design. It is a modern approach in which the patient becomes an active partner.

Impressions - a 3D scan with the TRIOS 5 scanner instead of plaster-based material.

Visualisation - a digital design on a computer screen and a mock-up instead of plaster models.

Patient involvement - you try on and approve the design instead of passively waiting for the result.

Honestly

Does digital design guarantee a perfect smile?

No method in dentistry guarantees a perfect smile, and digital design is no exception. What it does give you is something concrete: you see and approve the digital design of your new smile before we carry out any irreversible procedures. You and the dentist agree on the desired result together, so you make an informed decision rather than a blind one.
